The Three Basic Types of Human Hair Extensions

Natural beauty comes in many forms, and having human hair extensions is just one way to enhance what you already have. Hollywood A-listers frequently use hair extensions because it’s easier to manage than synthetic hair. Not only does it not melt easily when exposed to heat from straighteners or curling tongs, it also looks naturally stunning when attached to one's hair. If you're clueless about what hair extensions are, here are the basic types that you may want to learn about:

Remy Hair Extensions are extensions made from human hair and taken from several donors. After it is harvested, remy hair is color-matched to provide a natural finish. Remy hair extensions can be permed, dyed, and styled easily, and among the many extension types, has one of the longest lifespans.

Non-remy hair extensions. This second extension type is more affordable than remy hair extensions and the most commonly used. This hair extension is composed of human's shed or fallen hair. The not-so-good thing about non-remy hair is that it can easily get tangled if you do not take care of the hairpiece correctly.

Virgin hair extensions. This extension type comes from a single human donor and is removed all at the same time. As its name suggests, virgin hair extension is an extension type that is untouched. Meaning, it has never been dyed nor altered with chemicals. It is known to be the highest quality human hair extension, so expect it to be very expensive.
