Hair with Flair: Hair Extensions and How They Work

Hair can be the perfect accessory. You can tease, blow dry, braid, or dress your hair up anyway you want to achieve that perfect look for any occasion. Alternatively, you can highlight your best features by getting the right haircut.

Not everyone, however, is blessed with lustrous hair of ample volume. Luckily, those who desire better body and definition can change their looks in an instant with hair extensions. These days, it’s not uncommon to see celebrities sporting a variety of hair extensions, further boosting the popularity of the accessories.

Hair extensions can either be made of natural or synthetic strands. Both have their advantages, and buyers are encouraged to choose a type that best suits their specific needs and preferences. Those who prefer a more genuine, barely-there look typically opt for natural hair extensions assembled from carefully selected and treated human hair.

Aside from the differences in material, hair extensions are distinguished by their application methods. Some hair extensions are “glued” to existing hair using a keratin protein bond, which gives the extension a seamless and natural-looking appearance. Meanwhile, other hair extensions can be simply clipped on and removed as needed. Clearly, hair extensions can change the way an individual’s hair looks like in ways a mere haircut can’t accomplish.
