Myth or Fact: The Truth about Your Weave

As with everything that has reached public consciousness, talks about Do's and Don’t’s about your Brazilian hair extensions have risen due to its impressive boom in the beauty market. As these so-called “rules” have seemingly been compounding by the minute, so do some myths that have caused confusion among women looking to have those beautiful locks installed. Here are some that should be debunked right now:

Myth: Extensions damage your natural hair

There is no reason why an extension can damage one's natural hair. Women around the globe have even used hair extensions to grow their own hair into its desired length. In fact, if properly installed and maintained, extensions can even improve hair health especially when you are into heat styling as your extensions absorb the heat before it reaches your natural hair.

Myth: Extensions are hard to maintain

Simply put, if you want to prolong the life of your investment, in this case your extensions, proper care must be taken into consideration. Vigilance on products with silicone and sulphate should be exercised as they weaken the bond of your extensions. Other than that, caring for your hair extensions is similar to how you would take care of your natural hair.

Myth: You can’t brush your hair extensions

You need a specific type of brush in order to comb your hair without pulling at the bonds that keep them together. Soft plastic loops are recommended instead of the regular bristles.
